چکیده:

This study was led with the purpose of evaluating the antibacterial activity and identifies the essential oil composition of Falcaria vulgaris collected from Iran. Essential oil was obtained by hydro-distillation using Clevenger type apparatus during approximately 3 hours and analyzed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/ MS). Sixty-three components were identified in F. vulgaris essential oil that represented 99.67% of the oil. The main components of the oil were Germacrene D (14.04%), Spathulenol (9.89%), Limonene (7.15%), Caryophyllene oxide (5.69%), b-Pinene (5%), Salvial-4(14)-en-1-one (4.88%) and a-Pinene (4.41%). Antibacterial activity of essential oil of F. vulgaris performed by the micro broth dilution and disc diffusion method. Result showed that the oils of F. vulgaris has stronger antibacterial activity against some plant pathogens. The minimal inhibitory quantity was 312.5 ppm and a minimal bactericidal quantity was 625ppm and in this study Agrobacterium tumifasiens had the most sensitive to the essential oil of F. vulgaris. There is no report on the use of F. vulgaris essential oil against plant pathogens.
